Chase and Tabitha celebrated their Washington, D.C. wedding at The University Club, against the iconic backdrop of these historic streets. Their wedding seamlessly blended elegance and timelessness, with a deliberate focus on cherished traditions.
Chase and Tabitha’s story first unfolded within the walls of Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington, D.C. Initially brought together by a shared commitment to worship, their connection blossomed beyond the pew into a beautiful and loving relationship. The church has since played a major role in their journey, being that it was the center of where their story began. It was so special to hear about how their chance encounter would become the cornerstone of a relationship and ultimately lead them down the very same aisle in celebration of their wedding day!
Chase’s home in Washington, D.C., he shared with all his roommates, within walking distance from the church, added a touch of familiarity to the day. It was a place filled with shared memories and became a symbolic link between their past and their future together. Leading into the big day, Chase got ready here with all his groomsmen and the energy was truly unmatched!
Tabitha got ready with her bridesmaids and Mom. They shared sweet moments in prayer.
As the couple arrived separately, beautiful moments were captured on film of the bridal party. The excitement was so apparent!
Their lifelong commitment began when the ceremony unfolded in the historical church and set the stage for Chase and Tabitha’s meaningful union. When the church doors swung open and Tabitha walked down the aisle, you could feel the anticipation filling the air. They opted for a traditional vow and ring exchange, surrounded by the support of their family and friends and church community. The candid moment of the couple seeing each other for the first time was so incredibly sincere. They had made the decision to keep things very un-staged, and this was apparent in the ceremony. The couple wanted to craft a moment that reflected their genuine connection that started at the church. This added an extra layer of significance that was beautiful to witness.
Transitioning from the ceremony to the reception was a joy to capture. The couple and their wedding party hopped into a limousine and headed down to yet another iconic venue, The University Club, to celebrate! The entire wedding party added a vibrant and lively vibe. Lots of laughter, cheers, and the infectious joy of those closest to them. As the night unfolded, Tabitha and Chase shared their first dance to the timeless song, “Comme Avant” by Mirielle Mathieu. They were joined by the guests and the party was so full of warmth. The couple’s decision to forgo the traditional wedding cake and opt for an apple pie cutting added a sweet and personal touch to the festivities.
I had the privilege of capturing Tabitha and Chase’s day, having known them for many years. Their romance is so evident in everything they do- and I was honored to be there to photograph their wedding day. In every detail, from the historic church to the energetic wedding party, Tabitha and Chase’s wedding was a celebration of classic elegance. Their day was a testament to the power of authentic connections.
“Erin was absolutely WONDERFUL. She managed to capture the dreamiest day of our lives on camera while allowing the joy and energy of the day to flow naturally. And she did it all with the biggest, most encouraging smile. In fact, from planning to the last shot, she was one of our biggest cheerleaders, going above and beyond to make sure things went smoothly. When something went missing mid-wedding day, she jumped in and made arrangements that surpassed the original plan! She was creative, gracious, and adventurous.
And then there’s the photos themselves. One thing I did not realize until after the wedding day: as the bride, you miss a lot of the ceremony. Luckily, Erin has a gift for catching the most meaningful, tender moments on camera. So, through her pictures, I was able to experience what happened while I was waiting. What a joyful experience! It felt like getting married all over again! Because of this, so many of my favorite pictures are actually candids. And I love the nostalgic feel of the 35mm film.
In addition to her artistry and encouraging demeanor, Erin is professional, quick, and tech-savvy. The photos were edited, arranged, and easy to access in a flash. You have a million decisions to make when planning a wedding. Save some energy and don’t think twice about hiring Erin!” – Tabitha
