Zenobia and Nick celebrated their season of life together with neutral-toned Laguna Beach engagement photos in the hills and canyons of this coastal town. These two exuded warmth and joy to match the gorgeous sunlight bathing us all afternoon.
This outdoor engagement took place in the heart of Southern California. With a love for nature, Zenobia and Nick decided on an engagement shoot that combined a vibe that fit their outdoorsy and adventurous personalities. The aesthetic for this engagement was a perfect match for the couple and choosing the off-the-beaten path location for their session captured the true essence of their relationship.
Zenobia and Nick reside in Los Angeles. Earlier this year, the couple took their love international, getting engaged in the romantic city of Paris! The goal for their engagement pictures was to convey the themes of love, fun and adventure. Just like their proposal! They love to hike around Los Angeles with their two dogs, so it made sense to explore some trails in Orange County for a change of scenery that still felt familiar.
To embrace the outdoorsy aesthetic, the couple drew inspo from places they like traveling to such as Joshua Tree. They really admire the untamed beauty of California’s landscape, so when we curated their engagement shoot, we wanted to make sure their surroundings could reflect their love for nature. The couple opted for locations off the beaten path, away from the typical beach settings. They sought out textures and natural elements that captured the essence of a California fall. This preserve in Laguna checked all their boxes!
The session’s vibe was casual, yet purposeful, as they meandered through the nature preserve in Laguna. We were able to capture the unique textures and lighting. The golden hour pictured is truly so spectacular! They specifically enjoyed locations that featured rock formations and layered plant-life. These elements provided a picturesque backdrop for their engagement photos. Nick added a touch of the wild west to the session, sporting a charming cowboy hat for the second half of the shoot. This small detail perfectly encapsulated the couple’s love for the western California aesthetic, adding a playful and authentic element to the engagement photos. Film photography is close to their hearts, and the aesthetic definitely contributed to the organic and natural feel the couple desired.
This particular shoot emphasized the importance of having a relaxed atmosphere. Feeling comfortable in your surroundings really affects the way you present on-camera. When a couple can trust in me as a photographer, I can provide guidance and vision, resulting in a series of stunning moments that I am so happy to be able to capture!
Engagement sessions are not just about capturing images; they’re about creating an experience that reflects a couple’s unique connection. As a photographer, it is my job to approach a session with a vision, scouting out places that are tailored to a couple’s aesthetic and story. I want to be able to elevate the shooting backdrop and bring elements of a couple’s personality to the forefront. The goal is for you to see your images and say, “wow, these really look and feel like us!” I also work very closely with each couple to maintain a collaborative approach and flow off the energy two people in love unequivocally share. Not only do I want to make it dynamic, but also an enjoyable experience that you remember fondly.
As you envision your own engagement session, consider the elements that truly define your relationship. Embrace the collaborative spirit, find locations that resonate with your story, and most importantly, relax and have fun. Your engagement session is not just about the photos; it’s about capturing the essence of you as a couple!
