In 2014, I walked into one of my first college classes:
Photojournalism 101. I was smitten.
Four years later, I photographed my first wedding for a high school friend, and my world shifted on its axis. Weddings make me feel alive. The energy and anticipation coupled with the unpredictability of how people will behave... the surprise elements of weddings captivated my attention quickly, and no other work has gripped me quite the same before or since.
From experiments in the darkroom with my art professor to scanning all of my analog film work at home, I am forever grasping for tangible remnants of memory. I consider myself deeply nostalgic and often think of how I will remember a moment as I am experiencing it.
I aim to live presently and be open-minded to what is right in front
of me. This guiding principle undeniably shapes my approach to weddings. Embracing the delicate dance of silently recording an emotional exchange and the next moment diving headfirst into the active flurry of joyful chaos, I appreciate the ways weddings require quick pivots and constant flexibility. In other words, I love that with weddings, it's best to let go and enjoy the ride.
