Kelsey and Grant’s Villa and Vine Wedding in Santa Barbara was the epic conclusion to an unforgettable three-day wedding weekend. Celebrating over Labor Day weekend, this wedding marked the culmination of a journey years in the making. One that began with a postponed dream of a destination wedding in Oaxaca, Mexico, and evolved into a colorful, love-filled event that exceeded every expectation.

Originally planning to tie the knot in 2020, Kelsey and Grant navigated multiple postponements due to the pandemic. Their dream of a destination wedding reflected their passion for travel. Additionally, their love for gathering their favorite people in meaningful places. Santa Barbara became the perfect backdrop for their celebration. With its Spanish-style architecture, vibrant colors, and coastal charm, the city offered everything they envisioned for their wedding day…a destination feel without leaving California.

A Coastal Ceremony at Simpson House

The day began at Simpson House, where Kelsey and Grant exchanged vows surrounded by family and friends.  After hosting their rehearsal dinner at the same venue, the couple leaned into the intimate, garden-like setting that Simpson House provided. Guests were treated to a seamless flow of events, with the ceremony setting the tone for a day filled with love, joy, and vibrant energy.

Villa and Vine Celebration

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a short, picturesque walk through the streets of Santa Barbara to the reception venue, Villa and Vine. The stunning courtyard space was adorned with twining vines and lush greenery. It really felt like a secret garden in real life. Long wooden tables, decorated with colorful florals and eclectic textures, created an inviting and cozy atmosphere that perfectly reflected Kelsey and Grant’s vision.

One of the standout details was the live watercolor artist, who had also designed the couple’s stationery. Watching the artist in action added a unique and interactive touch to the guest experience, while the couple’s choice of vibrant patterns, cascading floral installations, and playful details like flower petals gracing the wedding cake made the entire day feel joyful and personal.

Kelsey and Grant’s love of fun and vibrant aesthetics was woven into every element of their wedding. They encouraged their guests to embrace colorful attire, resulting in an event that felt like a fashion-forward dinner party. From Olive, their flower girl (and daughter), arriving in a flower-decorated wagon to the guests’ lively outfits, every detail radiated their personalities.

Their shared love of great food and intimate gatherings was reflected in the reception. Guests dined at long, communal tables that fostered conversation and connection, with a menu designed to evoke the warmth of a family-style dinner party. Dancing flowed effortlessly between the courtyard fountain and an indoor space, giving everyone room to celebrate under the stars.

For Kelsey and Grant, their Santa Barbara wedding weekend was about more than just tying the knot. It was about creating an experience for their loved ones.
