Agnes and Tim hosted a formal Ritz-Carlton wedding in Marina Del Rey for their guests complete with bespoke details, emotional speeches, and not one but two wedding ceremonies.

When Agnes and Tim’s wedding planner Regan from XOXO Events first reached out to me, I was immediately curious about what they were planning. If it isn’t already obvious from the first few photos in this blog post, this couple has incredible style and attention to detail. For their engagement photos, we explored Los Angeles after dark and visited three separate locations to feature some iconic landmarks in their photos. They wore such seamlessly tailored, modern looks for the engagement photos, so I knew their wedding would equally be the perfect runway to see more of their style on display.

For their wedding, Agnes and Tim opted for formal, classic silhouettes with a touch of flair. Agnes added gloves to two of her three wedding day looks which elevated the already stunning dresses. It was important to me that we photographed this pair using flash to create some of that high drama to match their looks. We also included film photography throughout the wedding to curate a nostalgic vibe from the day.

Before the party, Agnes and Tim chose to start off the day with a traditional tea ceremony. They gathered their family members and closest friends to celebrate. Each family member who received the tea had a chance to speak words of encouragement and support to the couple before offering gifts. It was such an emotional and sweet experience to watch the couple surrounded by love and completely supported as they started married life. Many hugs later, we captured some moments in their traditional red jacket and dress before heading upstairs to change.

The Ritz-Carlton hotels are notoriously perfect for weddings. While the hotel atmosphere feels luxurious, the friendly staff will make you feel right at home. In particular, the setting was perfect to create architectural backgrounds for photos during the wedding. Stairs, columns, and the private garden all perfectly framed guests mingling and enjoying time together. Plus, being at the hotel provided the chance to catch some wedding photos that were a little unique – like the wedding party gathered in the elevator to head downstairs for the second ceremony.

In the morning while getting ready, Tim was hard at work on translating his vows from English into Mandarin. At the ceremony, he read them aloud and surprised everyone in Agnes’s family with his stellar pronunciation. He had been secretly practicing for months for the big moment! Everyone was so emotional and cheered him on. Later on, Agnes’s dad gave a toast praising his daughter and her new husband for all their talents and special qualities. It was clear that throughout this entire wedding day, there was so much thought and effort that went into celebrating the newlyweds. After years of dating and spending time with each other’s families, it was easy for guests to celebrate the next step in their life together.
