Buckle up for this summery Laguna Beach elopement, because it pretty much captures the theme of weddings this year! After postponing their wedding multiple times (like most other 2020 couples), Karen + Ly decided to elope now and celebrate later.
Out of all the inquiries I’ve received, Karen and Ly’s has to be a favorite of mine. When Karen reached out, she sent me photos of their kitty dressed up in a lion costume! I instantly was on board for literally any wedding they had planned – these people are clearly kindred spirits.
Ly proposed to Karen with a stunning Heidi Gibson ring in beautiful Hawaii. To play on the coastal beginning to their engagement, they chose Laguna Beach as the backdrop of their wedding ceremony! They got ready and celebrated with dinner at the Hyatt Huntington Beach.
In my mind, Karen and Ly had the best of both worlds with an ocean view all day long. From Huntington to Laguna, the coastline played a big role! We started off with some time to get ready at the hotel in Huntington where I witnessed some of the cutest moments of Ly’s dad getting his grandson (Ly’s nephew) dressed. Seriously, adorable!
Next, we headed to Laguna for the ceremony. The weather was perfect, and the family stood and gathered around the couple for an intimate, casual feel. One of my favorite parts was seeing all of the looks on people’s faces! It felt very special.
After the ceremony, Karen and Ly had a very special surprise planned…their baby announcement! Yup, they shared the news with everyone at once, and it was such a sweet moment to capture!
Finally, we all headed back to the Hyatt to celebrate. Karen and Ly were so sweet and invited me to stay and enjoy the party with them! We took photos, toasted, and ate an incredible meal. I’m so grateful to work with the sweetest people like Karen and Ly! So thrilled for them with Baby Nguyen on the way.
Isn’t this Laguna Beach elopement perfect?! Check out this other recent Laguna Beach wedding I photographed this fall!
