Krystal + Miranda welcomed me into their apartment for this beautiful and laughter-filled in home session in Los Angeles. These two are both life and business partners, working together as doulas here in Los Angeles! This was the coolest experience to photograph them, because I actually had NO idea what role a doula played in the birthing process before I met these two. They kindly brought me up to speed and made me quickly realize the significance of their impact on the lives of birthing persons!

This was my very first in home session, and I’m SO grateful for how it turned out. The key, it turns out, is alllll about making the most of beautiful window light and just focusing on you two as a couple. Your home is really special. In some cases, it might be temporary, a place for just a season of your lives together. What an amazing thing to get to document you two as you are in your space.

If you’re stressed about the idea of us shooting photos in your home, don’t be. It’s meant to feel lived-in and to reflect how you two are, really. Your home holds your arguments, your laughter, your joy, your frustration, your celebration, your meals. I love the whole concept of in-home sessions because I want you two to feel like yourselves. There’s nowhere more intimate and personal than your home. <3

This session flowed really well because we made sure to move around a lot so we weren’t stuck in one place the entire time, even though we were inside their house for most of the session. At the same time, I let these two relax into each other and just laugh + hang out while I photographed them being completely natural and happy together. Such a good day!!
