This Descanso Gardens wedding in Los Angeles was perfectly scheduled when all the roses were in bloom, and the flowers did not disappoint! Caitlyn and Mark transported all of us to a Disney movie scene with all of their magical touches and fairytale romance.

The Story of Them

To start, Caitlyn and Mark are college sweethearts since freshman year. Both creatives, they LOVE color and the city of Los Angeles (as evidenced by their engagement pictures at Griffith Observatory). It only made sense for them to get married in the heart of Pasadena surrounded by colorful flowers! They both brought their artistic senses to the wedding day in creating their own paper goods to compliment the decor. Mark and Caitlyn even brought the flowers as a guest activity. Ahead of the wedding, they sourced beautiful vintage-inspired postcards for guests to write well-wishes and leave them in a “mailbox” in lieu of a traditional guest book.

Mark and Caitlyn honored the beginning of their relationship by asking one of their favorite college professors to officiate their ceremony. He brought all the funny stories of their college years!

The Story of The Wedding

Part of my urge to describe this Descanso Gardens wedding as Disney-inspired comes from the way Caitlyn looked like a princess all day long. An actual princess! From her red hair to her soft pink wedding gown (yup, it was blush underneath those layers!) to her beautiful smile as she floated across the grass, the description couldn’t be more accurate. The way Mark and Caitlyn interact with each other also speaks to this romantic idea. These two adore each other. You can see it in their smiles, their laughter, and their preference to remain glued to each other’s sides all evening.

This wedding day included a schedule with ample time for everyone to relax and chat. Highly recommend this approach for your own wedding. Some of the best candids of the day depict Caitlyn and her bridesmaids adventuring around the garden together. We never felt rushed. Added time allows for photos to happen naturally as people engage with each other and the gorgeous environment.

Aside from aesthetics, Caitlyn and Mark’s friends brought unmatched energy to the dance floor. Gathering when your friends all know each other from college hits different. Everyone rushed the dance floor and performed practically choreographed routines they’ve been perfecting at each wedding in the friend group over the years.
