Kathryn + El Rey had the most gorgeous and fun Colony House wedding in Anaheim!!! I got to photograph this wedding alongside my friend Nicole Kirshner Photography, and I’m so grateful she asked me to help her out by assisting her for this day! There was so much color and detail in this day, and I”m stoked I got to witness every moment. This couple was the absolute sweetest, and we had so much fun with them!!!
We started off the day at an airbnb in Anaheim for Kathryn’s getting ready space alongside her bridesmaids. Weirdly enough, the property had absolutely no power while we were there, so we used the open doors and windows to make sure there was plenty of light inside! Even the getting ready details were gorgeous. Kathryn’s ring was super unique, and there were lots of little plants and succulents we incorporated into detail shots to show off every little element of the day.
Kathryn + El Rey’s ceremony was in a big church nearby the getting ready spaces, and the ceremony was beautiful! There’s so much ritual involved with Catholic ceremonies, and I love hearing all the prayers and the vows. After the ceremony was over, we headed to the Colony House to dance the night away!!!
The Colony House in Anaheim is a gorgeous wedding venue for a few reasons. First, it’s a big empty space making it the perfect area for couples to customize it to their vision! Second, it has a beautiful plant wall outdoors, a fun yellow couch in the loft, and hanging lights to provide some modern, upscale vibes. These all fit the mood perfectly with the metal chairs, peacock thrones, flowers, dessert table, and BOBA BAR (yeah you heard that right) that Kathryn and El Rey chose to bring in.
It was obvious to me that these two chose to have some of their favorite things and their own sense of humor added into the day. For example, the bar menu included three signature cocktails: one of Kathryn’s choice, one named after their dog, and one called “The El Rey” (aka water on the rocks). Boba is one of their favorite desserts, so they included it during cocktail hour along with cups that had stickers with a custom designed drawing of the two of them along with their cute pup!
I had an absolute blast seeing all the time and effort these two poured into making their wedding special for guests, and I hope you do too!!! Scroll away to see these beauties!!!
