Stephanie + Drew adventured out to Point Dume with me for their Malibu couples’ photos earlier this summer!! I have always wanted to photograph this gorgeous (and hard to get to) beach, so I was stoked that they were down to explore! I knew this place would be perfect because it’s fairly private and has no shortage of stunning views. We also ended up with an empty beach all to ourselves! THE DREAM!
Stephanie + Drew have been married 8 years and have 3 kids together. I was already intrigued from the moment she inquired, cause I knew their love and commitment was something else. It’s much more common for me to photograph couples who are just starting to build a life together, but these two are different! They ventured out to California for Drew’s work trip, and they figured it would be the perfect time to get some new photos of just the two of them. Typically, they told me that photo sessions include the whole fam for the yearly Christmas card picture. But I just LOVE that they set aside time for some romantic moments of just the two of them!
Let’s just talk about Malibu for a second. I love love love this area. But WOW. It takes forever to get here (less than 30 miles from my house but minimum 1 hour drive there), parking is crazy, and there are VAST crowds at most of the beaches. I have to say though…it all feels worth it for photos like these. It really is such a stunning area of the coast, and I’m willing to navigate the challenges 😉 Just trust me if I tell ya to get there super early or urge you to schedule our time on a weekday when it might be a lil less crowded!
On that note of Malibu being a bit challenging, here’s a tip I like to give all my couples! Be prepared for anything on a session. We might get to a location which ends up being a total bust. It might be difficult to park. We could end up walking awhile. I always encourage couples to prepare well! Whether that means being open to multiple different locations, bringing an extra pair of shoes, and generally having a positive attitude about the situation….it’s always good to prepare. Remember, this is supposed to be FUN! I promise to be fun to hang out with, and you obviously already have your bff + partner fo life alongside ya, so regardless of circumstances, it’ll be a good day.
Enough rambling from me, just go see these gorgeous sunset beach pics in Malibu!!! Yay!!!!
