Patty and Richard’s Carondelet House wedding in Los Angeles was a celebration filled with so much warmth. They met online and have been together for five years. Together, they reside in Washington, DC. Patty, originally from Los Angeles, chose to come back west for their wedding to celebrate in the perfect meeting place (and vacation spot) for all their family to gather from around the world. Richard, from Canada, agreed that LA was the perfect city, offering a vibrant yet intimate setting for their guests.
The Carondelet House was the perfect choice for the couple. It boasts a historical house turned wedding venue, providing an intricate and charming backdrop for the day. The venue recently won “Best Intimate Venue” in Los Angeles from California Wedding Day Magazine. It was such a pleasure to cheer on the amazing team at Carondelet during the awards ceremony! This award is a testament to the venue’s unique atmosphere and exceptional service. I was so happy to work with with this lovely couple to shoot a wedding here.
Patty and Richard made the most of the week leading up to the wedding, organizing various outings and dinners for their guests. Since most of them were traveling, there was no shortage of things to do as everyone prepared for the big day! This time allowed everyone to reconnect and set a joyful tone for the wedding day. The couple wanted the celebration to feel stress-free, warm, and welcoming, ensuring everyone walked away with smiles. I truly believe we were able to capture those feelings on camera! The couple emphasized early on in our discussions that they are drawn to documentary style wedding photos that feel candid and genuinely capture the moment. I’m so thankful that our values aligned when it comes to wedding photography! This is definitely important when hiring your photographer to build trust and know with certainty that they will be able to capture your vision perfectly.
On the wedding day, the atmosphere was filled with intricate details and personal touches. The Carondelet House’s vintage furniture, antiques, and cozy corners created an intimate setting. The couple’s first look in the courtyard was a beautiful and private moment. Sharing a first look as a couple before everyone arrives is one of the best ways to relax and create time to spend the entire day side by side. The vibrant flowers from Little Branch Florals added the perfect amount of color and texture, bringing the space to life.
The wedding was filled with sweet moments, including Richard’s dance with his mother, which was incredibly emotional. Richard also took the time to learn enough of Patty’s native language to deliver a heartfelt toast to her family, thanking them for their support. All the toasts were so genuine and well-meaning, with friends and family sharing childhood stories and genuine sentiments. Richard and Patty’s joy was evident as they danced and celebrated throughout the evening. As a photographer capturing the day, seeing couples take a moment to just be in the present is truly the most special thing to witness!
The evening’s events flowed perfectly, with dinner in the dining room, followed by the first dance in the courtyard, and then cocktails and dancing in the front area. This progressive movement kept the energy high and allowed guests to experience different parts of the venue. I loved that they had varied options to allow guests to have some downtime or be right in the party’s action.
Patty and Richard’s Carondelet House wedding in Los Angeles was truly a day filled with unforgettable moments. We were able to fully capture all the feelings they had set forth to share with their loved ones. I’m so grateful to Regan from XOXO Weddings for bringing me on the team to help celebrate these two!
