Trendy Vogue-Style Engagement Photos
Ok, honestly, who doesn’t want trendy Vogue-style engagement photos?!
Ever since the Bieber wedding, I’ve been totally obsessed with flash-only photo sessions with couples. There’s just something so unique and yet timeless about these sorts of photos. In a way, it looks like they could have been photographed in 2020 or 1950.
Rachel and Matt are the coolest humans, and they were so down for an alternative sort of engagement session that went against the grain. Rather than heading to a dramatic location, we actually made most of these photographs inside Rachel’s bedroom. The location felt personal to them yet we made sure they were positioned in an interesting fashion to push the envelope a bit.
Assuming you have a furry friend with a chill personality, yes, you can still bring them along for this alternative engagement session! Matt and Rachel’s pup Penny was such a trooper despite flash being involved. Look at that cutie!
My Advice
A few tips for your flash-only engagement session:
- Wear something fun. Rachel opted for a sparkly party dress with white bootie while Matt wore a patterned shirt. Together, it looked so artsy and unique! Highly recommend.
- Be open to different poses. While I like to primarily give my clients direction that’s fun and engaging to keep them moving, I slow it down a bit more when flash is involved. Lean into your moody side a bit, I promise it will be worth it!
- Bring on the color and the FUN. As always, I love to encourage colorful elements in sessions like these. String lights in Rachel’s room created this cool rainbow vortex in some of their pictures…super funky!
