Looking for engagement photo ideas? I get that it might all feel a little overwhelming as you think about being in front of the camera. As a seasoned wedding photographer, I’m sharing my 3 best tips to make sure your engagement session goes smoothly AND ends up being a total blast!
Struggling to know where to go? Think about what you two like doing together. Is your ideal date grabbing a cup of coffee and then walking the dog? Do you love to hike? Are you into picnics? Drawing in an activity for the first part of your engagement session can help calm nerves and create a natural environment so being in front of the camera feels less weird. These photos are meant to be an accurate expression of who you two are – lean into what you love doing together for inspiration!
Choose clothes that you actually love wearing and feel like you to wear at your engagement photos. Are you a jeans and t-shirt kinda person? Start off your session wearing that! You can always change into a second fancier outfit if you want. I recommend texting your photographer a pic of the outfits you two plan to wear so they can give you the thumbs up. Sometimes they’ll suggest a simple switch like βhey, wear black jeans instead!β which can bring everything together. Keep in mind that you want your outfits to fit your location, too! A ball gown at the beach might look a little weird, but go for it if you want π
Before your engagement photos begin, I recommend you spend some time together. Hang out during the day if you can. Grab a drink before you meet your photographer. Listen to a song on the way thatβs meaningful to your relationship. Put in a little effort to show your partner why you love them. If you create a space for chemistry, the emotions and the lovey-dovey vibes will carry you through the session!
Alright, there ya have it! My best engagement photo ideas and advice for your session! Don’t worry, you’re gonna do GREAT!
