Caitlin & Nick’s Los Angeles engagement photos at home were the perfect reflection of their love: warm, intimate, and honest. What a joy to be a part of this moment with them. These photos are taken on a mixture of film and digital cameras.
Photographing a couple in their own home together is a really unique experience. You can’t hide anything in the home. In this case, Caitlin and Nick filled their space with weird and wonderful objects collected from their travels and shared experiences. From polaroids to tiny figurines to an impressively large record collection and furniture mostly sourced from TV and movie sets, their taste is eclectic and textured, full of color and life. Their home feels like them. Los Angeles engagement photos at home are a great way to show a personal side of your life. You get the chance to freeze this moment for your future selves to reminisce and romanticize. An ode to engaged life, if you will. So much better than a standard “let’s go stand in a field and pose” kind of engagement shoot.
Besides the fun elements of their home, Cait & Nick got to include their cat and dog in the photos in a very organic and real way. By being at home, everyone (including the furry ones) felt at ease. Way easier to wrangle for petting and playing with sounds and smells they were used to.
If you’re considering Los Angeles engagement photos at home, I would recommend doing it for the following reasons. First, you will have a private, relaxing environment for photos. No need to stress about people being in your pictures or having an audience. Being at home is a comfortable and controlled environment. In addition, activities at home like mixing a drink or making pancakes together will give you something to do in the photos. If you feel nervous about your engagement photos, an activity at home will make the process simpler.
