“It was seamless. Effortless. Timeless.”
This is what I want my clients to feel about their wedding day hair and makeup. This is the feeling I want my brides to have every time they look back on wedding photos.
My biggest goal as a professional hair and makeup artist is for my clients to feel empowered, encouraged, and like themselves when they look in the mirror! Instagram influencers preach contouring, “more foundation,” or something that will “pop in photos.” Instead, you’ll find my approach to hair and makeup is a lot more minimal.
My work and technique stems from my experience working in television, red carpet premieres, commercials, and with high definition cameras. The variety in my work has allowed me to create bridal looks that are seamless in person and in photography.
The biggest misconception I come across is that you need MORE makeup so it will show up in photos. I actually disagree!
While there is some truth to this, I think different photographers approach their work in many different ways. It truly depends on things like creative choices with editing style, and the lighting at different points during the wedding day. Photographers who have a more moody, darker style of editing will actually make your makeup look darker and bolder in photos.
I want my clients to feel beautiful and confident in the look that THEY truly want. I take their inspiration and vision and bring it to life in a way that will be seamless on camera, last all day, and look timeless for years to come.
A suggestion to my brides: try to schedule the hair and makeup trial appointment right before your engagement shoot. This is a great way to see your hair and makeup look on camera before the wedding day!
Ways that you can prepare for your wedding: keep your hair healthy and take great care of your skin! Start with a professional facial. Create a skincare routine leading up to the wedding so you have the perfect base for makeup. Strengthening your hair will allow your bridal hairstyle to be effortless.
To wrap up…why should you hire professionals for your wedding day? Each vendor will enhance something about the other.
An incredible photographer will showcase florals in a different light, allow your dress to have its moment, and capture your hair and makeup look in a beautiful way.
An incredible hair and makeup artist will know what products to use to allow your beauty to shine through in all types of lighting in your wedding photos, and will create less editing for your photographer.
An amazing wedding planner will be thoughtful about the day’s plan and timing which will ease the rest of the vendors. Each vendor compliments the other and allows your dream day to be showcased beautifully.
When I first worked alongside Erin, I could immediately tell that she cares about her clients and wants them to feel their best in photographs. Erin will champion you and encourage your inner confidence to break out. This is everything I hope to be as well, as a hair and makeup artist.
Choosing vendors who you trust will allow them to do their best work and allow you peace of mind to enjoy the best day of your life!
