These Balboa Fun Zone engagement photos in Newport Beach were such a BLAST with Aubri and Matt!!

These two grew up spending summers in Newport Beach with their families, and they’ll be tying the knot this September at the beautiful Ole Hanson Beach Club in San Clemente! You can tell right away that they’re both beach babies 🙂

An engagement session that feels more like a date? Yes, please!

We started off Aubri and Matt’s engagement photos at the Balboa Fun Zone in Newport to grab a couple of frozen bananas – yum! All da sprinkles are welcome over here.

We found this cute little VW bus as a backdrop for a few photos before they rode bikes around a bit.

We headed to Aubri’s family’s house to drop off the bikes and so they could change + grab Matt’s guitar before we headed to the beach for sunset. I seriously cannot emphasize enough what AMAZING light we had! It was golden and warm, even in January! Literally perfect weather. 

Matt and Aubri popped down on the sand and played + sang together while I took photos and basically melted into a puddle behind my camera.

Did I mention the fun surprise?

We wandered the sand and took a few photos by the lifeguard tower. While we were finishing up at the tower, a lady came up to us! She asked if we wanted to take a few photos over at this little bonfire setup she made with her friend for someone’s birthday. We looked over and saw the CUTEST little teepee/throw pillow/charcuterie picnic situation on the beach. Aubri and Matt immediately wanted to take a look! I can’t lie, these were some of my fave pics of the day – SUCH a cute setup!!! 

We finished up their photos down by the water, and it was all so fun and easy. It really felt like we were just hanging out while I snapped some photos!

Aubri and Matt have so much chemistry. They would immediately just start dancing or holding hands or touching because they genuinely love being together so much. I was soooo honored to photograph their engagements, and I’m just thrilled to shoot their wedding this fall too!
