Austin + Rhiannon’s backyard elopement during COVID-19 was nothing short of emotional and sweet!
After postponing their big wedding 3 times due to coronavirus, these two didn’t want to wait any longer to make it official. Keep scrolling to see all the highlights! To hear their advice about how to get married during COVID-19, visit Junebug Weddings for details.
Three days before Austin and Rhiannon tied the knot, Austin’s mom Candice called me to ask if I was free to photograph their intimate wedding. Candice used to be my boss at a previous job, and she is an incredible mentor to me! I immediately said yes – what an honor to be asked! Another plus: Candice is licensed to officiate weddings. So she married her son and his gorgeous fiancé 🙂 Pretty much the cherry on top of this plan!
Having a backyard elopement during COVID-19 was a little crazy for Austin and Rhiannon. The only other people physically present at their wedding were Austin’s mom + boyfriend and yours truly! To compensate, friends and family joined via zoom to witness the ceremony and cake cutting.
Nixing tradition, Austin and Rhiannon got ready together. From zipping up her dress to adjusting his tie, I love that they shared these moments together before the ceremony. It really fit the intimate mood of the day!
A+R’s vows were heartfelt and tear-inducing for everyone!! You could hear the emotion in their voices as they committed to spending forever together.
After the ceremony and cake cutting, the three of us drove to a neighborhood trail. Ocean views and rolling hills surrounded us for their beautiful sunset portraits. During photos, they opted for a last minute first dance to their favorite song by HONNE – “Warm on a Cold Night.”
Austin and Rhiannon could have easily called it quits on the wedding plans til COVID-19 phased out. Instead, they honored their commitment through this intimate ceremony. Their positive attitudes and excitement to finally be married were such a joy to witness!
