Jason and Megan’s whimsical summertime Lake Arrowhead wedding highlighted their joint connection to nature. Their story goes way back—they met in middle school and stayed friends for years before realizing, “Why haven’t we been dating this whole time?” From their first date, it was clear they shared something special. Their relationship flowed effortlessly. Fast forward six years, and they got engaged in Zion National Park! They knew their love of adventure and nature would have to be part of their wedding day, so they headed to the mountains for the big day!
It is no secret that Jason and Megan love the outdoors. From road trips to camping, hiking, and exploring national parks they are true nature folks! Their adventures often end at outdoor music festivals; they both love to listen to their favorite tunes under the stars, surrounded by natural beauty. Lake Arrowhead was the perfect choice for their wedding, being a place they both had spent time growing up. It holds special memories for Jason’s family, and they wanted to share this Southern California forest getaway with all their guests.
Many of Jason and Megan’s family members traveled from out of state to come and be a part of their wedding. When the couple first started planning their celebration, they envisioned an opportunity that went just beyond partying for a few hours. They hoped it would feel like a mini vacation—a little mountain oasis where friends and family could relax and feel connected to Jason and Megan all weekend long. The venue was truly ideal for their whimsical wildflower wedding!
Jason and Megan envisioned their wedding as a magical, dreamy, woodsy wonderland. They particularly loved the idea of an outdoor reception surrounded by the tall trees. The night centered around togetherness, focusing the reception around the atmosphere so guests could feel present to connect with each other or join the dance floor under the twinkle lights. The priority was making sure it all felt relaxed and organic so guests could be at ease.
One of my favorite parts of the day was their private last dance. As everyone headed inside for the after-party, Jason and Megan stayed back under the stars. It was their chance to have a quiet moment together, reflecting on the whirlwind of their day before they joined their guests to keep the party going. It’s those small, personal moments that make a wedding day truly memorable, and this was no exception.
When it came to photography, Megan and Jason wanted nothing staged. They were drawn to my work because it captures real, candid moments that are filled with emotion. Throughout the day, they made sure to stay close to each other, holding hands and sharing the experience as one. It was clear they prioritized being present not only for their guests but also for each other. This is so incredibly special that they made it a point to be full immersed in their wedding, and I am so happy I was able to capture them in their natural element.
Megan had some adorable bridal touches that added a flair of personality. She had the cutest little bridal purse, a short veil, and some heart-shaped sunglasses for her bridesmaids to wear. These details were so fun and reflected the playful energy brought to their wedding.
Beyond the bridal accessories–the first look was especially touching. Jason and Megan shared their private vows, making that moment even more personal before the day unfolded. I really love how they were able to break away to share this moment together before everyone arrived.
Jason and Megan’s whimsical summertime Lake Arrowhead wedding was a reflection of everything they adore—each other, the outdoors, with their closest family and friends. The destination was the perfect backdrop, offering natural beauty, warmth, and a sense of nostalgia. Oh, and a whole lot of LOVE!
