Sarah and Drew’s Rancho Las Lomas wedding celebrated a kaleidoscope of colors with a lively group of loved ones who gathered from both coasts.

It’s impossible to recap this day without first acknowledging the playful design and colorful details that framed the whole experience. Tropical flair sent the wedding florals into a whimsical, winding display around the ceremony. Drew and Sarah sent out invitations that hinted at the neon pops of color. This led guests to follow suit in a striking array of patterns and bright hues. Colorful but cohesive is how I’d describe this funky wedding design. Breaking from a traditional color palette, Sarah encouraged her bridesmaids to select a color AND pattern all their own that fit into the color scheme. Paired with the groomsmen in tuxedos, the style felt fun yet elevated. Overall, the outfits were a perfect combination to acknowledge the sincerity of ceremony while still creating room to let loose all night.

Getting married at Rancho Las Lomas offers a destination wedding feel without the hassle of leaving Orange County. Guests continually commented on how it felt like we were transported to completely different environment thanks to the abundant mature trees and tropical foliage surrounding the venue. Rancho Las Lomas feels private and tucked away with zero neighboring properties or road noise. It felt more like Sarah and Drew rented a private estate for the day where they happened to get married. One of the huge benefits of getting married in Southern California is the deliciously comfortable weather we experience nearly all year round.

Rancho Las Lomas takes full advantage of the environment by offering lots of locations within one property for a wedding. Sarah and Drew opted to have their ceremony and reception in the same outdoor location. The open sky, tree branches, and twinkling string lights served as their ceiling. With lots of Spanish details and traditional architecture, this venue suits the couple who craves a European-style secret garden for their wedding.

A few fun facts about this wedding: Drew and Sarah first bonded over music and chose to hand-pick every song for their wedding. From the moment guests entered for ceremony all the way til the last dance, they curated a vibe. Sarah’s grandfather flew all the way from Denmark to help the pair celebrate! The couple shares a killer sense of humor and infused tons of playful, silly moments throughout the day. The groom’s nieces wore matching outfits as flower girls. And then they received matching ring pops to survive ceremony. Finally, Sarah’s close friend made their whimsical wedding cake!

From a photography standpoint, I absolutely loved this wedding because Sarah and Drew focused so heavily on being present with their people and enjoying the moment. Many, many rolls of analog film made their way through my cameras. I documented intimate embraces, a candlelit meal, and colorful flowers everywhere I looked. My favorite images from this Rancho Las Lomas wedding are the ones where Drew and Sarah are laughing, hugging their friends, and soaking in the reality that their relationship is now legal!
